Human-Generated Music
AI-Generated Music
My Evaluation
I found that the AI music felt very fake and was easy to tell that it was AI generated I did a blind test with some of my friends and they all could easily identify the AI music without a second thought. I think it did a good job a creating good sounding music, it just was easy to pick out. I picked a techno style song from the Video Game OST of “Cyberpunk 2077” I tried to incorporate with the limited tools of the generator the traits and style as best I could such as synth instruments, emphasis on quick changes and more emphasis on bass then guitar or drums.
I think that AI music won’t be taking any jobs or replacing human generated music as of yet. Since it seems to be in it’s infancy right now with the very limited tools available when it comes to creating said music and the insane paywalls behind such. As I went to download said file from Soundraw and I was prompted to pay a fee of 25 dollars a month for the basic plan which still amounts to around 300 dollars a month or pay yearly and save 40 dollars. I can’t see myself using this other than as a fun novilty in it’s current state and I assume it’s similar for others. The other question that is raised in my mind is who owns the rights to said AI music? Is it the company that created the algorithm? Or the user who created the input for said algorithm? I think before AI music becomes a main stream tool such as chat gpt these questions need to be addressed or at the minimum, they need to be brought up and possible solutions stated as definitive answers are worked out.
